Grand Opening Activation

An opening the neighbourhood remembers, not an afternoon.

Start six to eight weeks ahead

For when the opening date is set and what happens that day isn't.

From six to eight weeks out: read the catchment, decide who to invite, design the day and the fortnight after it, and run it.

You end with local contacts and an opening sequence the next store can reuse.

You'd use this when

  • The opening date is set and what happens on it isn't
  • Traffic drops sharply after the first week, every time
  • The head-office opening playbook doesn't fit this catchment

How it runs

[ 01 ]We read the catchment6–8 weeks out

Who lives inside the radius, and where people already gather nearby.

An opening is usually decided by who is invited more than by how the day is staged.

[ 02 ]We decide who to invite4–6 weeks out

Local influencers, neighbouring businesses, community groups.

Approached across the weeks around the day, not only on it.

[ 03 ]We design the day2–4 weeks out

Where a queue forms, where a photograph gets taken, and what gives a first visitor a reason to come back.

[ 04 ]We run it and carry itthe day + 2 weeks

We run the site on the day, and we plan the fortnight that follows.

Openings usually end after one day because that fortnight was left empty.

What you're left with

  • 01The record and footage from the day
  • 02A list of local contacts made
  • 03An opening sequence the next store can reuse
  • 04A plan for the two weeks after

If the store is already open and the question is the shelf, that's In-Store Activation.
